my incredible story

The writer and video artist H.(early forties) committed, out of philosophical despair, a brutal murder. For years, he had been documenting his life on video, picture, text and audio and has therefore laid out huge archives. Besides secretely filming in public, night-wandering in Berlin, self-documentation and documentation of random acquaintances etc, there can also be found in his archives a) takes with the model Ophelia and a steadily increasing team b) a documentation titled “Story of my Death”, in which the heroin-addict prostitute Alex, who he accidentally met on the street and took with him spontaneously, prevents him from suicide and shoots him heroin instead and c) documents, material and background of the crime. After H. was arrested, two articles about the crime were published in the BILD-Zeitung.The transsexual Malaria7 (alias Amalia Sophia Riatoni) who was present at the Ophelia project has access to the Archives in Progress (texts, pictures, audio & video tracks), kept by H. as a documentary on his crime and his personal and theoretical background.

Malaria7 invites (through the net, random meetings and public events) anyone intersted to search further, and by using the archives, to investigate and understand the deeper reasons why H. killed a thirteen year old girl (Julia). The yellow press only presented a superficial interpretation of the story, whereas the archives deal with the material as evidence. The difference between narration and archivistic aesthetic: if something is trivial or differentiated it is not a question of the event but of the narrative construction, of the format.

Malaria7 puts the archives’ material to the disposal of the public as a starting-point for artistic work. Malaria7 curates, organizes and links the so generated art-work to different distribution channels. On the tape which was shot on the day of the crime, the actual crime scene is missing. While sitting at the kitchen table, H. asks Julia about her personal dreams. Julia replies. In the next take, H. is addressing the mother of the already murdered girl (Video for Mama). What kind of dreams did Julia confide in him?
